Ginsenosides and Ginseng Phenolic Acids Relieve Ionizing Radiation-Induced Pyroptosis and Apoptosis in Intestinal Epithelial Cells

چکیده

Exposure to ionizing radiation (IR) during procedures such as abdominal and pelvic radiotherapy results in severe intestinal injury. In the current study, we demonstrated that a lethal dose of IR triggered epithelial cell apoptosis pyroptosis via Caspase-3 cleavage. The ginseng active ingredients, ginsenosides (GS) phenolic acids (GPA), significantly inhibited IR-induced IEC-6 cells. GS GPA also reduced GSDME cleavage HMGB1 LDH release, thus inhibiting after IR. Moreover, GS- or GPA-treated cells showed reactive oxygen species DNA damage accumulation. These suggest induces GSDME-dependent through activation, which can be relieved by GPA, supporting potential use prevention treatment

Atorvastatin Sensitizes Breast and Lung Cancer Cells to Ionizing Radiation

Tumour cells may be resistant to radiotherapy that results in unsuccessful cancer treatment in patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the sensitizing effect of atorvastatin (ATV) on breast cancer (MDA-MB-231) and non-small cell lung cancer (A-549) cells following exposure to ionizing radiation (IR). These cells were treated with ATV and exposed to X-ray at dose 4 Gy. The radiosensitizi...

Activation of guanylate cyclase C signaling pathway protects intestinal epithelial cells from acute radiation-induced apoptosis.

Uroguanylin (UGN) is a peptide hormone that binds to and activates the intestinal epithelial cell (IEC) transmembrane receptor guanylate cyclase C (GC-C), which in turn increases intracellular cGMP. Gene targeting of murine UGN or GC-C results in significantly lower levels of cGMP in IECs. On the basis of effects of cGMP in nonintestinal systems, we hypothesized that loss of GC-C activation wou...

Interdependence of Bad and Puma during Ionizing-Radiation-Induced Apoptosis

Ionizing radiation (IR)-induced DNA double-strand breaks trigger an extensive cellular signaling response that involves the coordination of hundreds of proteins to regulate DNA repair, cell cycle arrest and apoptotic pathways. The cellular outcome often depends on the level of DNA damage as well as the particular cell type. Proliferating zebrafish embryonic neurons are highly sensitive to IR-in...

Naphthazarin enhances ionizing radiation-induced cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in human breast cancer cells.

Naphthazarin (Naph, DHNQ, 5,8-dihydroxy-l,4-naphthoquinone) is one of the naturally available 1,4-naphthoquinone derivatives that are well-known for their anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial and antitumor cytotoxic effects in cancer cells. Herein, we investigated whether Naph has effects on cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in MCF-7 human breast cancer cells exposed to ionizing radiatio...
